Snow today will likely cause tough travel during the afternoon and evening.
A week or so ago, I was getting excited about the potential for our first significant snow of the season here in Rochester and the Finger Lakes. Over the last few days, my hopes were crushed, along with a Buffalo Bills Super Bowl win.
We are forecasting snow to arrive today by 12 p.m. in the city.
It may look impressive and snarl traffic with a few inches falling just prior to and during the evening commute.
However, all indications are it will flip over to rain Wednesday night into early Thursday.
On Thursday, it will transition back to light snow and we may see an inch or two.
Long range weather models suggest above-average temperatures for most days in February. This does not bode well for ice fishing or snowmobiling.
